Moving and Handling (People)

Our Moving and Handling (People) courses have been developed for Carers working or preparing to work in the Care Industry who require this mandatory training, and also just as importantly, anyone who cares for other people in their own family for whom there is no mandatory requirement but they do the same moving and positioning of loved ones. It is for individuals or groups, so is inclusive for all.

Our Moving and Handling (People) courses are available at our training centre in Sheffield, or Chesterfield and throughout South Yorkshire and Derbyshire at your premises or a suitable location near you. We are also able to offer this training nationwide subject to minimum numbers for a course.

Back injuries account for the highest percentage of injuries in the workplace, the majority caused by poor lifting, moving and positioning techniques. People on this course will learn about all aspects of moving and positioning people safely.

We have a mobile hoist, bed, wheelchair, slings, belts, banana boards, rotator, slide and roller sheets, so the course covers relevant theory and legislation, but is very practical and hands on.

This course like all our courses is taught in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere with the emphasis on fun and learning, sharing good practice, new ideas, demonstrating and using various aids, but most of all building knowledge, skills and confidence , to be able to move and position people safely.

If you understand how Moving and Handling works, which is what we ensure,  then you will probably do it correctly. If you only learn it as black and white then there will be problems.

We want all learning to be inclusive, so if you need any additional assistance or requirements to aid learning, then let us know in confidence, so we can make any appropriate adjustments to the course.

There is also video based E-Learning as an option for refresher training.
